Dokuma Sanatı Sergisi

EDİRNE BİENALİ'NDE DOKUMA MİRASI VE ÇAĞDAŞ SANAT BULUŞMASI Dokumanın insan evriminin ve eyleminin öncelikli ihtiyaç nesnesi olmasının yanında kadim bir estetik ifade ve kültür alanı oluşturduğu kuşkusuzdur.

İçinde bulunduğumuz coğrafyada dokumanın hayatta kalma pratiğiyle (dışarda yurt, içerde halı) direkt ilişkisi çok özel, derin ve kapsayıcı bir geleneksel baz yaratmıştır.

Anadolu ve Trakya'daki geleneksel halı/dokuma üretimi kullanım ve kültürel öğe olarak toplumun tüm kesimlerine nüfuz etmiş, hatta bazı üretim stilleri dünyaca tanınır olmuşlardır.

Dokuma üretiminin ve kültürüyle ilişkinin çok yoğun ve yaygın olduğu bu arka fonda dokuma ve çağdaş sanat sanatın buluştuğu bir sergi ile Edirne Bienali'nde izleyicilerin karşısındayız.

Dünya sanat sahnesinde de son zamanlarda artan bir ivme ile ortaya çıkan ve çok ilgi gören dokuma/lif sanatından seçkin sanatçıları ve işlerini olağanüstü tarihi bir ortamda sunmaktan mutluluk duyuyoruz.

Dokuma sanatının son zamanlardaki yükselişi renk, biçim, doku gibi barındırdığı son derece zengin ifade olanakların yanı sıra malzemenin plastisitesi, akıcılığı ve diğer malzemelerle bir arada var olma olanaklarının neredeyse sonsuz olmasıdır.

Geleneksel dokumacıların çağdaş sanatlarla, çağdaş sanatçıların da dokumayla tanışıp üretime geçmeleri dünya ölçeğinde yeni, anlamlı ve çok yaratıcı mecralar ve ifadeler doğurmuştur.

Edirne Bienalinde bu çok eski ve de yeni sanata ayrıca bir alan açılmasından büyük memnuniyet duyuyoruz.

Sunduğumuz sanat eserlerinin sanatçılarda, sanatseverlerde ve dokuma ile ilgili endüstrilerde bir beğeni temeli, hareketlendiren bir heyecan, yoğun bir esin kaynağı ve estetik haz yaratmasını ümit ederiz.

WEAVING AND CONTEMPORARY ART AT THE EDIRNE BIENNIAL Undoubtedly, weaving has not only been a primary object of need in human evolution and endeavor but also a thriving realm of aesthetic and cultural expression.

In our geography, the direct relationship between weaving and the practice of survival (yurts outside and rugs inside) has created a unique traditional foundation that touches all of humanity.

Traditional carpet and textile production in Anatolia and Thrace has permeated all segments of society as both a functional and cultural element, with certain production styles gaining worldwide recognition.

Against this backdrop, with so many local production hubs and the cultural exposure to weaving being so intense and widespread in this culture, we present an exhibition at the Edirne Biennial that brings weaving and contemporary art together.

We are delighted to showcase distinguished artists and their works from the field of fiber art a medium that has recently gained significant momentum and interest on the global art stage within an extraordinary historical setting.

The recent rise of weaving as an art form is due to its incredibly rich expressive possibilities such as color, form, and texture as well as the material's plasticity, fluidity, and nearly infinite potential to coexist with other media.

The meeting of traditional weavers with contemporary arts, and contemporary artists with the craft of weaving, has birthed new, meaningful, and highly creative channels and expressions on a global scale.

We are immensely pleased to dedicate a specific space to this art form, which is both ancient and brand new, at the Edirne Biennial.

We hope that the artworks presented will establish a foundation of appreciation, stir excitement, and serve as a profound source of inspiration and aesthetic pleasure for artists, art lovers and those in the textile industries.
